Beginning with Nordstrom, the gray-on-gray trend again was non-existent for men. After searching through Nordstrom’s blog, The Thread (specifically ‘Trend Note’, ‘Street Style’, and ‘Men’s Shop Daily’), I found one entry from NYFW on what they termed ‘gray scale’. The photo demonstrates the gray-on-gray ensemble to perfection and can be found below. While there was no mention from menswear on the gray-on-gray trend, black-on-black and navy-on-navy could be spotted in New York’s street wear scene.
Additionally, after searching on Gap, J.Crew, Neiman Marcus, none of their blogs or online style guides gave attention to the gray-on-gray trend editorial wise, and J.Crew was the only retailer of these stores to even offer a shopping suggestion consisting of more than one gray piece at a time.

Everywhere you look it’s either black-on-black or blue-on-blue that is trending for menswear, and very rarely is gray-on-gray even given a thought. It will be interesting to see how long the blue-on-blue trend lasts after black-on-black phases out. Gray may have a while to wait before it finally gets its moment in mass fashion.
